Wisdom teeth are the last adult molars to come in. These molars usually begin to grow in during your teens. Unfortunately, for many people there isn’t enough room for the wisdom teeth to properly align, leading to impaction within your jaws. We regularly examine your wisdom teeth, and if we see that there isn't ample space for them, or if they are causing problems in the surrounding teeth or tissues, we may recommend extraction.
Wisdom teeth extraction is done under a local anesthetic, and because it can be a long procedure we often prescribe a sedative as well. After the surgery you may feel some pain and discomfort for a few days. Your dentist will give you advice on how to manage the pain and keep your mouth healthy while you heal.
